Our Home

We are living in a 2011 Heartland Cyclone 3615 5th Wheel toy hauler.   It is just under 40" long, and is rated to a total GVW of 18,000 lbs fully loaded.   This unit has a master bedroom, a 12' garage that our boys live in, and a loft above the garage that Brittany lives in.  It has 2 slides:  one is couch and dinette, the other is the closet in the master bedroom.  We have been living in it since November of 2016 and could really not be happier with it.

After spending the summer off grid in Alaska in the Summer House , we decided that the Cyclone needed to be more self sufficient.  It already had a 5500 Oman Generator, but we didn't want to those people, out boondocking in a beautiful spot running our generator for electricity.  So we put together a plan for a off grid solar system.  We chose to go with Victron components, they are very good, and everything integrates very well together.  If you know much about RV electrical system, you would know that a 50 amp rig runs 2 legs, and for everything in the rig to run, both legs need to be powered.  We chose to go with 2 of the Victron 12/3000 Multiplus inverters, one on each leg.  This may be overkill to a point, but it allows everything in the RV to run as it should, at least until the batteries go dead!
